The Pain Points
The Horse Trust, the oldest horse charity in the world, got in touch when they started to experience issues with their existing sponsorship portal which had been built on software that was now discontinued and was causing errors.
They also needed a new website as the old one was filled with outdated software that could no longer be updated without causing errors.
Technical Problems
The old site was simply outdated in terms of development and a number of errors and bugs were causing unforeseen issues and site downtime.
Poor Donor Journey
The old site had a poor donor journey and lack of integrations & automation meant that the workload required from the Horse Trust Team when donations were made was staggering.
Sponsorship Portal
The Horse Trust’s existing sponsorship portal wasn’t working well and was causing errors and had been built within the main website, therefore massively impacting their online presence when errors occurred.
Support Needed
The team moved away from a previous agency and needed ongoing management, maintenance and support. Due to the state of the existing website, they kept coming up against problems that needed a developer to resolve.
Our Solution: A multi-pronged approach to develop a new sponsorship portal, new website and provide ongoing support.
Our solution was to build a new sponsorship portal away from the main website so as to increase reliability and uptime and prevent the main website being subject to user accounts and logins. We also designed and built a new main website that included an optimised donor journey and improved the general user experience.
Custom Development
We redesigned the site to be sleek, functional and simple whilst improving the user experience. We also gave the brand a refresh, modernising the logo and providing some new brand guidelines.
Brand New Design
We designed a brand-new website that was streamlined and got rid of unnecessary bloat. The new site was designed to be efficient and effective when it came to motivating users to become donors.
Ongoing Support
Once we’d been through the process of resolving the problems that were initially presented to us, we were able to move from a ‘reactive’ support approach to a more ‘proactive’ support approach, focusing on evolving the website further rather than firefighting.
The Finished Product
The Horse Trust’s new website and sponsorship portal now provide the perfect platform to grow online donations as well as act as a way to inform people of what it is that the Horse Trust does, and why people should support the charity and get involved.
